Erlandson paces Red Sox to win

Justin Erlandson registered four hits, scored three runs and had three RBIs on Tuesday to help the Regina Red Sox defeat the Moose Jaw Miller Express 8-5 in Western Major Baseball League action.

Kevin Borst notched the save after striking out five of the six batters he faced before 598 spectators at Currie Field.

Moose Jaw’s Travis Able had four hits and two runs scored.

Regina improved its record to 4-2. Moose Jaw dropped to 1-3.

The Red Sox are to return to action Thursday against the Brooks Bombers. That is the opener of Regina’s four-game Alberta road swing.

The Little Black Bear Blues won a pitchers’ duel in the Western Cycle Rambler Park Fastball League on Tuesday, defeating the Standing Buffalo Dakotas 1-0.

Winning pitcher Dustin Keshane allowed two hits and struck out nine in seven innings. Standing Buffalo’s Dwayne Redman Jr., fanned 14 in six innings, permitting three hits.

Also on Tuesday at Rambler Park, the Earl Grey Rockets defeated the Piapot Wolfpack 11-8. Earl Grey trailed 5-0 before scoring six runs in the bottom of the second inning. Karson Becker homered for Earl Grey.

Jill Williams and Janean Hodgson homered to help the Wheat Country Extreme defeat the Kaos 11-2 in Regina Ladies Softball Associatio­n action Tuesday. Sydney Kitts was the winning pitcher.

Also on Tuesday at Douglas Park, the Saints got home runs from Meme Goodwill and Jackie Rieger in an 11-4 victory over the Vipers.

In Tuesday’s other games, it was: Lumsden Cubs 9, Earl Grey Heat 4; Earl Grey 19, Kaos 9; and, Elite Auto Body 15, Raiders 8.
