TARYN TOOMEY’S FIVE SUGGESTIONS FOR FITNESS:

-

It may seem like there’s an elusive, perhaps even magic secret to staying on track when it comes to fitness goals, but according to Taryn Toomey, the formula for success is actually quite simple.

She says the key is to find what you “love and makes you feel balanced.” And, if you’ve tried your fair share of fitness outlets — cycling, yoga, running, etc. — and you haven’t found “it” yet, her suggestion is equally as simple: keep looking.

The all-around wellness guru and mastermind behind the popular fitness movement, The Class, dishes on her top tips for getting — and staying — in shape.

1. Find a movement

Discover a type of exercise that feels less like a chore (or a bore!) and keeps you moving.

2. Find an eating plan

Work with a doctor or dietitian to put together a balanced and practical meal schedule and menu that suits your tastebuds and goals.

3. Find a mindfulness practice

Working out doesn’t have to mean purely muscular work. Find something that also incorporates working on your mind such as meditation, yoga or The Class’s blend of “repetitive callisthenics and plyometrics.”

4. Use consistency

Results won’t happen overnight, so be prepared to stick with your program.

5. Let it be a way of life. Leave the rest behind

If you’ve followed Toomey’s steps and found a practice that fits seamlessly into your life, and one that you genuinely enjoy, this should come easily. Establish a routine that works for your lifestyle and schedule, and you’re sure to be on your way to achieving your fitness goals.
