Guns, ammo and other weapons found during police searches

-

Two men and a male youth face numerous charges after Regina police searches Tuesday uncovered guns, ammunition and other weapons.

The operation began after the Regina Police Service obtained a warrant for a home on the 1500 block of Argyle Street.

With the search about to start, one suspect left the home and went to another home nearby. Soon, the other two suspects also left the first home.

When the first suspect left the second residence, he was detained.

Said to have taken a back pack and duffle bag with them, the other two suspects were then seen entering a vehicle. Making a traffic stop, police found two sawed-off firearms, four machetes, a baton, brass knuckles and ammunition.

The latter pair were arrested, and machetes, a hatchet and ammunition were found when the home on the 1500 block of Argyle Street was then searched.

A 15-year-old youth faces 10 charges including careless use of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm obtained by crime.

An 18-year-old man faces 16 charges including careless use of a firearm and breach of probation.

A 25-year-old man is charged with a breach of undertaking.

On Wednesday the youth made his first appearance in Youth Court, with the men appearing the same day at Provincial Court.
