Bieber says religion not behind decision

-

Justin Bieber denies that he cancelled the remaining dates on his Purpose world tour because of religious reasons, despite reports to the contrary. After the cancellation announcement on Monday, Australia Today hinted that Bieber wanted to focus on religion instead, perhaps even starting his own church. But when TMZ asked Bieber to verify that report, he denied it, just saying “no.” Some sources told TMZ that Bieber’s decision was related with his close relationship with Hillsong Church pastor Carl Lentz. Yet other sources told the publication Lentz actually recommended Bieber finish the tour. Said one: “The church didn’t tell Justin to cancel the tour. He made his decision based on spiritual soul-searching and his own view of the path in life he should be taking.” Bieber was raised as a Christian by his mother, Pattie Mallette. Two Canadian tour dates were among those cancelled: Sept. 5 and 6 in Toronto.
