Ma­raud­ers lead­ing pack in Sch­wann Con­fer­ence foot­ball

The Miller Ma­raud­ers lead the Regina In­ter­col­le­giate Foot­ball League’s Sch­wann Con­fer­ence with one week of reg­u­lar-sea­son play re­main­ing.

Miller im­proved its record to 5-1-0 on Wed­nes­day by de­feat­ing the Win­ston Knoll Wolver­ines 38-9.

The Ma­raud­ers’ Kieran Pois­sant caught two touch­down passes and ran for an­other ma­jor. Isaac Bird­sell added two TD runs. Miller’s Luke Hor­nung threw for 239 yards and rushed for a team-high 44 yards.

The Camp­bell Tar­tans and LeBoldus Golden Suns are tied for sec­ond at 4-1-1. Camp­bell de­feated the O’Neill Ti­tans 21-14 on Wed­nes­day, while LeBoldus downed the Rif­fel Roy­als 49-14.

Josh Don­nelly led LeBoldus with three TD passes — two of which were caught by Ben Cam­plin — and a TD run.

Mor­gan Crawford had two in­ter­cep­tions for LeBoldus, which also got a pick-six from La­rauche Akaf­fou. Rif­fel’s Zachary Arse­nault rushed for 113 yards, in­clud­ing a 20-yard TD.

Camp­bell got strong de­fen­sive per­for­mances from Josh White (10.5 de­fen­sive tack­les and one fum­ble re­cov­ery) and Thomas Markus­son (two sacks, one fum­ble re­cov­ery and 4.5 tack­les) while de­feat­ing O’Neill.

Camp­bell’s Matt Rivers and O’Neill’s Daulton Kadash each threw a TD pass.

The Sch­wann Con­fer­ence sched­ule is to con­clude Oct. 20 with three games. At 5:15 p.m., Rif­fel op­poses Win­ston Knoll at Mo­saic Sta­dium and Camp­bell plays Miller at Leibel Field. In the night­cap, LeBoldus and O’Neill meet at 7:30 p.m. at Mo­saic Sta­dium.

LeBoldus de­feated Miller 2-1 in a shootout Wed­nes­day in a Regina High Schools Ath­letic As­so­ci­a­tion 3A girls soc­cer quar­ter-fi­nal.

Emma David­son (LeBoldus) and Echo Des­jar­lais (Miller) scored in reg­u­la­tion time.

In the other 3A girls match, Rif­fel de­feated the Thom Tro­jans 4-1.

Regina-born Jordan Kazymyra scored two goals Wed­nes­day to lead the Wey­burn Red Wings to a 3-1 SJHL vic­tory over the vis­it­ing La Ronge Ice Wolves.
