Schwann Conference semis a go for Thursday

The Regina Intercolle­giate Football League’s Schwann Conference semifinals are set for Thursday at Mosaic Stadium.

At 5:15 p.m., the Campbell Tartans will oppose the Riffel Royals. The LeBoldus Golden Suns and Miller Marauders are to collide at 7:30 p.m.

Campbell secured first place in the Schwann Conference on Friday by defeating Miller 19-2.

Jaxon Ford rushed twice for 53 yards, with both carries resulting in a touchdown. Miller’s Emmett Steadman made two intercepti­ons.

LeBoldus — the five-time-defending city and provincial 4A football champions — placed second. The Golden Suns defeated the O’Neill Titans 56-0 on Friday.

The Golden Suns’ Jerry Wiebe rushed six times for 129 yards and two TDs. He also made one reception — for a 109-yard TD. Dom Dheilly caught the other three TD passes thrown by Josh Donnelly.

Campbell and LeBoldus finished with 5-1-1 records. Miller (5-2-0) placed third.

In Friday’s other game, Riffel got three TD passes and 290 aerial yards from Riley Andrews in a 20-16 victory over the Winston Knoll Wolverines. Riffel’s Tyler Lalonde caught six passes for 145 yards and two scores.

The Regina Pat Canadians are to return to action Tuesday against the Notre Dame Hounds. Faceoff is set for 8 p.m., at Duncan McNeill Arena in Wilcox.

At that same venue, the Pat Canadians defeated the Notre Dame Argos 4-1 on Sunday. Jaydon Dureau figured in all four Pat Canadians goals, scoring once and registerin­g three assists. Brayden Shaw, with two goals, and Matthew Culling also scored for Regina (4-2-0). Tanner Mortenson replied for the Argos.

Ally Kosteniuk scored a short-handed unassisted goal to give the Regina Rebels a 2-1 victory over the visiting Battleford­s Sharks on Sunday.

Kosteniuk’s goal, with 1:46 remaining in the third period, snapped a 1-1 tie in the Saskatchew­an Female Midget AAA Hockey League game.

Raina Phillips also scored for Regina (4-1-0). Sydney Rowley sniped for Battleford­s.

Zachary Johnson made 13 saves for the shutout as the Extreme Hockey Regina Capitals defeated the Saskatoon Royals 4-0 in Prairie Junior Hockey League action Sunday at the Al Ritchie Memorial Centre.

Daniel Wasylyshyn led the Capitals with two goals and one assist. Dawson Ritchie and Taylor Kreutzer also scored for the Capitals (4-3-0).

On Saturday, Ryatt Bayne scored two goals for the Traveland RV Storm in its 5-2 victory over the host Saskatoon Westleys. Luke Niemegeers, Jarvis Gelowitz and Josh Giblett also scored for the Bill Johnston Division-leading Storm (71-0).
