The Campbell Tartans weren’t in any hurry to leave the field at Mosaic Stadium after winning the Saskatchewan High Schools Athletic Association’s 4A football title on Saturday.

After a 44-15 victory over the Saskatoon Centennial Chargers, the Campbell players congratulated one another and posed for photos with the trophy.

“It’s really exciting,” Tartans quarterback Matt Rivers said. “We worked so hard for this and it paid off.”

Rivers threw touchdown passes of 45 and 31 yards to Bennett Stusek, plus a 13-yarder to Josh White, in addition to scoring on a one-yard run.

Campbell also scored touchdowns on a 55-yard TD toss from Jackson Milton-Owens to Berk Noble and a 70-yard punt return by Boston Miller. Noble’s TD was on a fake punt.

Centennial quarterback Taran Prefontaine ran seven yards for a major and threw a 44-yard TD bomb to Cameron Lyndon.

Stusek finished with six receptions for 103 yards. Rivers completed 12 of 24 passes for 258 yards and three TDs with one pick. He also rushed five times for 71 yards.

Campbell got interceptions from Jaxon Ford, Drew Lawrence, Gowrishan Aravinthan and Aiden Mann.
