Strong showing by Campbell teams, athletes

The Campbell Tartans had an eventful weekend.

Campbell defeated the Luther Lions 15-25, 27-25 15-13 in the Regina High Schools Athletic Associatio­n’s senior girls tier 1 volleyball final Friday night at Luther College High School’s Semple Gymnasium.

The Tartans were also in Friday’s senior boys tier 1 volleyball final, won 25-18, 25-14 by the LeBoldus Golden Suns.

The following day, Campbell defeated the Saskatoon Centennial Chargers 44-15 at Mosaic Stadium to win the Saskatchew­an High Schools Athletic Associatio­n’s 4A football final.

Also Saturday, Campbell track and field star Chloe McEachern — a member of the senior girls volleyball team — announced that she has accepted an athletic scholarshi­p from Western Michigan University.

In addition to Campbell, the SHSAA determined five other provincial champions on Saturday — the North Battleford Comprehens­ive Vikings (3A 12-man), Lumsden Devils (3A nine-man), Shaunavon Shadows (2A nineman), Clavet Cougars (2A six-man) and Raymore Rebels (1A six-man).
