SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 2017 Scorpio New Moon

Sensations have a way of creating greed and dependency, making you need more and more of them to get the same effect. Spiritual life is exactly the opposite: The nature of the spirit is to need less and less. Spiritual water signs dominate the sky, and the moon is new in soulful Scorpio. Advance toward enlightenment by lightening up.

ARIES (March 21-April 19).

Creativity happens in a state of overflow. You’ll make something beautiful out of an emotion that is flowing over, even if that emotion isn’t particularly lovely in and of itself.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20).

If everyone can have it, you’re not sure it’s worth wanting. Plus, you’re searching for meaning, and that’s very personal. It’s why you’re focused on getting something that is catered only to you.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21).

Shakespeare once wrote: “Love all, trust a few,/ Do wrong to none.” You definitely love some -- maybe most. But it won’t be easy for you to love all. The second hardest part of this equation will be knowing who to trust.

CANCER (June 22-July 22).

Considering that thoughts are just electrical impulses sent from one part of your brain to another, they really needn’t be given free run of your experience. When your thoughts aren’t helpful, put them to the test or ignore them.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22).

Often, who you meet is a matter of timing. But these days, you really want to meet someone, so you’ll make it happen instead of waiting for destiny to stick the two of you together.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22).

The best thing a loved one could give you today is the space to have a guiltfree time to do the things you find enjoyable. Drop a few hints! Such a gift could very well be afforded to you.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23).

Of course you can’t be expected to get it right all, or even most, of the time. You’re learning, just like everyone else, only you’re doing it from the helm of the operation.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21).

It is often the case that beautiful things don’t ask for attention yet attention is lavished on them. Put your energy into making something beautiful and you won’t have to advertise it all that much.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21).

You keep adapting to your circumstances and becoming more skilled. When you get totally out of your element, it will seem like you’re suddenly bad at everything. But go for it anyway; it’s part of the learning curve.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19).

Eye contact is more intimate that words. Keep this in mind when someone won’t look you in the eye. Also, think about what it means to the one who lovingly returns your gaze.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18).

It’s ridiculous to want people to know things about you automatically, through some kind of magical osmosis, but that is something we all do. Tell people what you want them to know. Or, better yet, show them.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20).

If there are no landmarks, it’s hard to know which way is forward. You’ve come to a part of a project that is rather featureless and disorienting. But if you keep putting one foot in front of the other, you’ll get somewhere.

TODAY’S BIRTHDAY (Nov. 18).

You’ll be content, yet you won’t stop improving yourself. Your winning smile will open doors and melt hearts. However, it’s what you do after that counts. Follow-through is your middle name in 2018. It’s why you have to be super careful about what you say you’ll do and what you’ll make a goal. Capricorn and Aquarius adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 5, 20, 1, 22 and 35.

ASTROLOGICAL QUESTIONS:

“I’m a Scorpio getting ready for my wedding Nov. 25, and I’m freaking out. I’m supposed to be having the time of my life right now, and instead I feel overwhelmed and annoyed. How can I avoid being a ‘bridezilla’ on my big day? My fiance is a Virgo, and my mother, who is driving me crazy, is a Virgo, too.”

You’ve been the star of the zodiac for the last few weeks. This can be wonderful and a lot of pressure at the same time. But with the planetary mood shifting toward Sagittarius, you’ll start to relax and let other people do the worrying. Your Virgo mother and future Virgo husband have all the details under control, and backup plans to boot. On your special day, the gregarious Sagittarius sun will be your party planner, making sure that everyone is mingling well and that your night is laced with excitement. Mercury is extremely well-aspected, and the sociable Aquarius moon will further enhance the sociable mood. Every tradition will be honored, and the correct sentiments and respects will flow naturally to the right people. You have absolutely nothing to worry about. Relax, and seize each opportunity to laugh, love and have a good time.

CELEBRITY PROFILES:

I won’t lie. I watched the trailer for “Lost in London” (coming out in January) several times, and I still can’t figure out exactly what it is. A comedy film? A live event? Performance art? Whatever the case, troublemaker Owen Wilson is heavily involved. He was born when the sun, moon, Mercury and Neptune were all in Scorpio. It’s a charismatic astral lineup: intense, passionate, creative and enormously magnetic.

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 19, 2017 Sagittarius Energy Escalator

Yesterday’s double Scorpio energy took us deep down in the soul, and today it moves up and out toward the horizon. The Sagittarian moon promises that new ideas will rise up to meet you like the steps of an escalator. You can get on at any point, or you can choose not to if you don’t like where the conveyor is headed. Stay alert and aware.

ARIES (March 21-April 19).

Your heart is generous, and there’s a symmetry that forms out of your kindness. It’s as though your kindness draws its own mirror image as it goes, to breathtaking effect.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20).

You’ll delight people. You’ve a grand sense of showmanship and presentation, but you’ll use it judiciously so as not to steal attention from those who believe they need it, which would foster jealousy.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21).

It’s as if you can vividly feel the vibes of a person you’re close to. When the words you hear are different from the feeling with which those words are being said, go with the feeling. It won’t lie.

CANCER (June 22-July 22).

If you’re still not sure what you want to do with your day, don’t let that stop you. Just move. An intelligence will take over -- the knowing under the knowing.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22).

A dream can pull you through hard times or boring moments. A dream can fuel you, give you direction, stir up some joy. A dream can be the bond of a relationship. And the best part is that it costs nothing to dream.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22).

Your energy will be robust. You don’t want this to go to waste. That’s why communication is so important. Ask questions, even if it seems that you should already know or the answer should be obvious.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23).

Nature is where it’s at. It will be interesting to watch how things grow and thrive, how other types of beings communicate, how other kinds of life adapt to challenges or suffer, as the case may be. Nature will be your great teacher.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21).

Before you move forward with a purchase, you need to learn something. The time for learning is before the money is exchanged, of course. This is when there is the greatest incentive for both parties to be open to careful listening.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22Dec. 21).

One person helping can create a whole culture of helping. Furthermore, the neatness, attitude and general contribution of one person will make a big difference. That one person is you, of course.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19).

The sea goat for which your sign is named is part mammal, part fish. It surfaces to breathe and then submerges to live, love, eat and fight. Similarly, today you’ll take a cleansing breath in one world to do work in another.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18).

Someone is on the fence. A nudge could tip this situation either way. Do you really want to take that chance? If you care a lot about where this lands, a big gesture will be needed, not a little push.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20).

A good mood meets fine timing and easy circumstances. You’ll be given special treatment, and there are no strings attached to this, either. It’s just your luck today.

TODAY’S BIRTHDAY (Nov. 19).

Greatness comes from experience. Try and try again. Keep going and you will eventually become a master. (The master has failed more times than the beginner has ever attempted!) There’s a burst of energy and physical strength in January. A prize motivates you in March. New supporters come on board in May. Libra and Virgo adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 6, 48, 44, 20 and 19.

FORECAST FOR THE WEEK AHEAD:

There’s this whole thing about knowing your worth that may get a bit confusing this week in the shifting of dominant cosmic forces. It will be pretty easy to confuse your overall worth with the value of what you bring to one particular situation, thus making a terrible mistake of context in one of two ways. You could arrogantly assume that because you’re so crucial to one scene, you’ve expertise and influence across the board. (Seems like a rookie mistake, but people do this all the time. Turn on any source of media and within five minutes you should be able to see an example of celebrities or experts boldly talking out of school on topics about which their knowledge is but cursory.) Or you could look at yourself through the eyes of those who don’t value you and assume that’s what you’re worth, a soul-crushing calculation indeed.

The remedy to both of these blunders is to recognize the inestimable significance of context. Every situation is different. The world is small; the world is enormous. As the sun moves into the adventurous realm of Sagittarius, the energy is telling you to humbly explore, assume nothing, stay curious and always carry inside you the knowledge that you’re equal to but at the same time different from each person you meet.

CELEBRITY PROFILES:

Scorpios are known for their courage in the shadowlands of human nature. Jodie Foster has won Oscars examining the dark side of life, in “The Silence of the Lambs” and “The Accused.” Foster -- who has natal Mercury, Venus and Neptune in Scorpio -- continues her mission as a director of “Orange Is the New Black,” “House of Cards” and the George Clooney and Julia Roberts movie “Money Monster.”
