Police are searching for a male suspect believed to be involved in a break and enter that ended with a shot fired.

At about 2:26 Friday afternoon, officers responded to a house on the 1600 block of Rae Street for a report of a break and enter where the suspect stole a firearm.

Police learned that minutes earlier, the 58-year-old resident of the house had arrived home to find an unknown male inside. The suspect had stolen a firearm belonging to the victim.

The victim was able to chase the suspect out of the house before the suspect fired the gun, striking a metal fence. A fragment caused a relatively minor injury to the victim’s leg.
