Petruic drives Terriers’ first win under head coach and GM Hehr

Chantz Petruic scored all three Yorkton Terriers goals Wednesday in their 3-2 SJHL victory over the Melfort Mustangs.

Rock Ruschkowsk­i and Colin Schmidt replied for Melfort at Farrell Agencies Arena.

Yorkton improved its record to 4-17-2-0. Melfort leads the Sherwood Division at 16-5-3-1.

The victory was the first for Mat Hehr as the Terriers’ full-time head coach and general manager.

Also on Wednesday, Cory Schillo’s overtime goal gave the Melville Millionair­es a 3-2 victory over the host Humboldt Broncos, and the Estevan Bruins got goals from Regina products Jake Heerspink, Arthur Miller and Jake Tesarowski in a 5-2 road victory over the La Ronge Ice Wolves.

Miller, formerly of the midget AAA Regina Pat Canadians and the WHL’s Swift Current Broncos, has eight goals in 11 games with the Bruins this season. Estevan (16-82-0) leads the Viterra Division.

Jarvis Gelowitz had a goal and two assists to lead the Traveland RV Storm to a 4-2 victory over Fort Knox in Prairie Junior Hockey League action Wednesday at the Pilot Butte Recreation Centre.

The Storm scored all four of its goals, including an empty-netter by Wyatt Bayliss, in the third period.

Ryatt Bayne also scored for the Storm (13-3-0-0). Ryan Rothenburg­er and Cody Chasse replied for Fort Knox (9-7-0-1).

Skate Canada’s Saskatchew­an section is to host Canada 150 Skating Day on Dec. 10.

The free public-skating session is to be held at the Doug Wickenheis­er Arena from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.

In addition to the activities on the ice, there will be an exhibition by local skaters along with prize giveaways.

Skate Canada coaches will also provide free instructio­n.
