Rouleau Rebels celebrate gold medal

The host Rouleau Rebels won the Saskatchew­an High Schools Athletic Associatio­n’s 1A boys volleyball championsh­ip Saturday, defeating the Bellevue Vonda Tropics 2-1. The Vanguard Valkyrs won the bronze medal.

In the 3A boys final at Kipling, the Fox Valley Legends defeated the Wawota Wildcats 2-0. The host Rocanville Rara Avis won the bronze medal.

The Island Lake Storm defeated the Meath Park Mustangs 2-0 in the 3A boys final, held in Whitewood. The bronze medal went to the Carnduff Tigers.

In the 4A boys final, host Humboldt Mohawks beat the La Loche Lakers 2-0, with the Melville Cobras earning the bronze medal.

Jaydon Dureau, the Saskatchew­an

Midget AAA Hockey League’s leader in goals and points, had another big game Saturday to help the Regina Pat Canadians defeat the Prince Albert Mintos 5-3 at the Co-operators Centre. Dureau had two goals and an assist, giving him 18 goals and 35 points in 20 games this season. Matthew Culling added one goal and two assists for the Pat Canadians, giving him 34 points for the season.

Regina also got goals from Sebastian Eger and Chase Nameth. Luke Nkwama paced Prince Albert with two goals.

Regina (15-2-2-1) moved into a first-place tie with the Tisdale Trojans (15-2-1-2).

The Pat Canadians return to action Wednesday against the Yorkton RawTec Maulers (8 p.m., Cooperator­s Centre).

The Regina Rebels swept a weekend set with the host Battleford­s Sharks in Saskatchew­an Female Midget AAA Hockey League action, winning 5-3 on Saturday and 7-4 on Sunday.

Brooklyn Stevely was named Friday’s first star after registerin­g a goal and an assist for Regina.

On Sunday, the Rebels (7-3-0-1) got four goals from Lauren Focht, six assists from Ally Kosteniuk and one goal and four assists from Tavia Terry. Kosteniuk was the first star.

The Rebels play host to the Notre Dame Hounds on Tuesday, 8 p.m., at the Co-operators Centre.
