En­glot posts ex­tra-end win at Roar of the Rings

Regina’s Michelle En­glot counted one in an ex­tra end to de­feat Al­li­son Flaxey of Cale­don, Ont., 8-7 in Thurs­day’s morn­ing draw at Roar of the Rings — the Cana­dian Olympic curl­ing tri­als.

En­glot im­proved her record to 2-4. She’ll play Cal­gary’s Chelsea Carey in Fri­day’s af­ter­noon draw.

Galilee Mwarabu scored 12 points to lead the Laval Li­ons to a 37-33 vic­tory over the Thom Tro­jans in Regina In­ter­col­le­giate Bas­ket­ball League ju­nior girls ac­tion Wed­nes­day.

Claire Rath­gaber led Thom with eight points.

In se­nior girls ac­tion, Cassie Ford scored 21 points for the Win­ston Knoll Wolver­ines in their 74-59 vic­tory over the Miller Ma­raud­ers. Alex Sch­midt and Sarah Miller each had 10 points for Miller.

Ja­cob Standen made 29 saves for the shutout as the Notre Dame Hounds blanked the vis­it­ing Kin­der­s­ley Klip­pers 5-0 in SJHL ac­tion Wed­nes­day.

Chance Longjohn led Notre Dame’s of­fence with one goal and two as­sists. The Hounds im­proved their Olympic Build­ings Di­vi­sion-lead­ing record to 19-8-1-3.

Also on Wed­nes­day, the Wey­burn Red Wings got two goals from Ben Hiltz in their 4-2 vic­tory over the host Melville Mil­lion­aires.

The Mandi Schwartz Memo­rial Tour­na­ment, for ju­nior and midget AAA fe­male hockey teams, will be held this week­end in Wil­cox and Mile­stone.

The four-day event concludes on Sun­day, with the fi­nal to be played at Dun­can McNeill Arena in Wil­cox. The face­off is set for 3:30 p.m.
