Moore perfect for Pat Canadians

Nathan Moore made 17 saves for the shutout as the Regina Pat Canadians defeated the Saskatoon Blazers 7-0 in Saskatchew­an Midget AAA Hockey League action Thursday at the Co-operators Centre.

Reece Henry and Chase Nameth each scored twice for the Pat Canadians. Matthew Culling, Eric Houk and Jack Glen also scored for Regina, who fired 46 shots at Saskatoon goaltender Adam Dmyterko.

Jaydon Dureau had three assists to increase his league-leading points total to 48. He has 23 goals and 25 assists in 24 games.

The victory raised Regina’s record to 18-2-2-1, good for 39 points — two more than the second place Notre Dame Hounds (18-1-0-1), who have played four fewer games.

Taylor Hoedel had a goal and three assists for the Traveland RV Storm in their 7-3 Prairie Junior Hockey League victory over the Regina Silver Foxes on Thursday at the Doug Wickenheis­er Arena.

Dylan Eberle scored twice for the Storm, who also got goals from Luke Niemegeers, Jarvis Gelowitz, Andrew Belitski and Taylor Schmidt.

Dimitri Kourles, with two goals, and Jace Baragar scored for the Silver Foxes, who got 47 saves from Cameron Lavoie. The Storm’s Tyler Szturm stopped 26 shots. Andrew Vanderhoof­t scored 22 points to lead the Luther Lions to an 85-76 victory over the Winston Knoll Wolverines in Regina Intercolle­giate Basketball League senior boys action Thursday.

Ronald Waira led Winston Knoll with 19 points.

In junior boys action, Nathan Hamilton scored 16 points for Winston Knoll in a 66-36 victory over Luther. Aman Sokhal had 11 points for the Lions.

The CFL’s Saskatchew­an Roughrider­s announced on Friday they have released four players — defensive linemen Ivan Brown and Zach Minter and linebacker­s Beau Landry and Cameron Ontko.
