Lloydminster wins Mandi Schwartz tournament
The Lloydminster Steelers won the Mandi Schwartz Memorial Tournament on Sunday at Duncan McNeill Arena in Wilcox.
They defeated the Rocky Mountain Raiders 3-2 in the first-place game at the female midget AAA/ junior women’s hockey event.
The Steelers got goals from Mackenzie Dachuk, Stephanie Fischer and Kelsey Hall. Emma Borbandy and Nicole Fry replied for the Raiders.
Jarred Hicks had two goals
and two assists to lead the Extreme Hockey Regina Capitals to a 6-1 victory over the Prince Albert Titans in Prairie Junior Hockey League action Sunday at the Al Ritchie Memorial Centre.
Also on Sunday, the Traveland RV Storm got two-goal, one-assist performances from Taylor Hoedel and Taylor Schmidt in a 5-3 victory over the Saskatoon Westleys at the Pilot Butte Recreation Centre.
Meanwhile, Dakota Helland had two goals to help the Assiniboia Southern Rebels edge the visiting West Central Rage 6-5. Bryce Hall added one goal and two assists for Assiniboia.
Helland has 24 goals in 19 games this season. Hall has 45 points in 23 games.
Marsha Hudey of White City
posted a personal best time of one minute 15.64 seconds in the women’s 500 metres at an International Skating Union long-track World Cup speed-skating event in Salt Lake City on Sunday.
Hudey placed third in the B group.
