Chamber cheers Wall’s record

-

Recently, Premier Brad Wall stood in the legislative assembly for the last time. After 18 years as the MLA for Swift Current, and the past 10 also as premier of Saskatchewan, Brad Wall will be remembered as one of the best premiers in Canadian history.

Over the course of his term as premier, Wall’s government accomplished a great deal.

Instead of being the place to be from, Saskatchewan became the place to be. Our province became the “it” province for investment, jobs and people. Population, GDP and employment growth became the norm, and along with growth came higher government revenues for health care, infrastructure, schools and more. However, most importantly, growth provided the people of the province with a better quality of life, which in most cases included higher household incomes and access to burgeoning opportunities.

At the Regina & District Chamber of Commerce, we will miss Premier Wall.

We will miss his oration skills, which are second to none.

We will miss his steadfast adherence to the importance of growth not being the end, but rather the means to achieve ends like reducing the doctor and nursing shortages, ensuring that those who are most in need are eliminated from provincial income tax rolls, and the list goes on. We will also miss his tenacity at standing up for the interests of the people of Saskatchewan against all comers.

On behalf of the members of the Regina & District Chamber of Commerce, the board of directors and the staff, I want to express our sincere appreciation for your years of service to the people of Saskatchewan, and wish you nothing but success in the future.

Thank you, Brad!

John Hopkins, CEO, Regina & District Chamber of Commerce
