Coleman, Johnson sign contract extensions

Offensive tackle Thaddeus Coleman and cornerback Jovon Johnson have signed contract extensions with the Saskatchew­an Roughrider­s.

Both players had been eligible to test CFL free agency in February.

The six-foot-seven, 320-pound Coleman, 32, is a veteran of five CFL seasons, including the last two with Saskatchew­an.

The 34-year-old Johnson, an 11-year CFL veteran, had two intercepti­ons — one of which he returned for a touchdown — with the Roughrider­s last season.

Coleman signed a twoyear extension. The duration of Johnson’s new deal was not disclosed. The Moose Jaw Warriors are second in the weekly CHL top-10 rankings.

Moose Jaw, which has a 27-6-1-1 record, is behind the OHL’s Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.

Two other WHL teams are in the top 10 — the Swift Current Broncos (fourth) and Brandon Wheat Kings (fifth).

Jaydon Dureau’s second

consecutiv­e two-goal, twoassist game powered the Regina Pat Canadians to a 5-1 Saskatchew­an Midget AAA Hockey League victory over the host Yorkton RawTec Maulers on Wednesday.

Dureau has league-leading totals of 27 goals and 56 points in 26 games.

Adam Herold, Parker Hendren and Matthew Tress also scored for the Pat Canadians (23-3-2-1). Aiden Bulych replied for Yorkton.

Dakota Helland had three

goals and two assists for the host Assiniboia Southern Rebels in their 7-5 Prairie Junior Hockey League victory over Fort Knox on Wednesday.

Helland has 47 points, including 30 goals, in 23 games this season.

Trey Tendler, with two goals, Cayden Price and Alex Hicks also scored for Assiniboia, which got four assists from Bryce Hall. Hall has 22 goals and 33 assists in 27 games.

Jarrett Metheral scored two goals and added two assists for Fort Knox. Brennan Watson, with two goals, and Tylure Brazeau completed the scoring.
