Hicks, Sulz power Capitals

Jarred Hicks and Tristan Sulz each had two-goal, one-assist performanc­es to lead the Extreme Hockey Regina Capitals to an 8-3 Prairie Junior Hockey League victory over the Assiniboia Southern Rebels on Tuesday at the Al Ritchie Memorial Centre.

Austin Miller, Taylor Kreutzer, Braydon Delorme and Dylan Jones also scored for the Capitals. Tyde Hutchinson, Dakota Helland and Randy Stowe replied for Assiniboia.

The Capitals (18-6-0-2) moved into a first-place tie with the Traveland RV Storm (19-10-0-0) in the Bill Johnston Division. Both teams have 38 points. The Capitals have three games in hand.

The Royal Road Race is to be held May 12 at the RCMP Academy, Depot Division.

There will be 10- and five-kilometre runs, 5 km walk, run and wheelchair events, and a noncompeti­tive Mini-Mountie Fun Run for children 10 and under. Events begin at 9 a.m.

Stuart Skinner of the Swift Current

Broncos is the CHL’s goaltender of the week.

Skinner, whom the Broncos acquired from the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Jan. 9, won his first two starts with Swift Current — registerin­g a shutout and allowing only one goal in the other game. He had a .980 save percentage over those two games.
