Canadian under-18s beat U.S. at football

Canada’s under-18 male football team — including five Saskatchew­anians — defeated the United States 44-26 at the Internatio­nal Bowl on Wednesday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The squad included three members of the Campbell Tartans — receiver Bennett Stusek, linebacker Josh White and defensive back Jaxon Ford — along with offensive lineman Nathan Raymond (from Redvers) and receiver Adam Labrash (Saskatoon).

Kali Christ of Regina is the Sask Sport Inc. athlete of the month for December.

A long-track speedskate­r, she finished sixth in the 1,500 metres at an Internatio­nal Skating Union World Cup meet in Salt Lake City, and was the top Canadian in the meet.

Christ subsequent­ly finished 12th at a World Cup meet in Calgary.

Earlier this month, Christ was named to Canada’s Olympic longtrack speedskati­ng team. She also competed at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.

Kieran Poissant scored 16 points to lead the Miller Marauders to a 67-60 victory over the LeBoldus Golden Suns in Regina Intercolle­giate Basketball League senior boys action Thursday. Jamon Campbell scored 17 points for LeBoldus.

In a junior boys game, LeBoldus defeated Miller 76-61. Joe Camplin and Merreck Mintz each had 15 points for the Golden Suns. Miller’s Musa Peter scored 22 points.
