Kosteniuk scores three to pace Rebels

Ally Kosteniuk scored a hat-trick to help the Regina Rebels defeat the Weyburn Richardson Pioneer Gold Wings 8-0 in Saskatchew­an Female Midget AAA Hockey League action Tuesday at the Cooperator­s Centre.

Goalie Sadie Hastings made 16 saves for the shutout. Weyburn’s Amara Lewendon stopped 38 shots.

Samantha Sichkaruk, Tavia Terry, Larissa Bohlken, Miranda Hatt and Lauren Focht also scored for the Rebels, who got four assists from Jenna Merk.

Parker Hendren and Taylor Halbgewach­s each counted two goals for the Regina Pat Canadians in a 7-1 Saskatchew­an Midget AAA Hockey League victory over the Notre Dame Argos on Tuesday at Duncan McNeill Arena in Wilcox.

Leighton Burns Marion, Peyton Gorski and Carter Belitski also scored for the Pat Canadians. Hunter Livingston replied for Notre Dame.

Jesse Spelay scored 37 points to lead the Regina Christian Grizzlies to an 84-66 victory over the Laval Lion in Regina Intercolle­giate Basketball League junior boys action on Tuesday. Umer Rehman led Laval with 27 points.

In senior boys action, Nolan Fontaine scored 28 points for the Thom Trojans in an 80-65 win over the Johnson Wildcats, who got 27 points from DeShawn LeJour.

SJHL scoring leader Layne Young had two goals and an assist as the Battleford­s North Stars doubled up the visiting La Ronge Ice Wolves 4-2 on Tuesday.
