RSO’s 110th anniversary ‘no small achievement’
The Regina Symphony Orchestra unveiled its 2018-19 season on Saturday with a lineup fitting a celebration of the organization’s 110th anniversary.
The RSO will host a total of 26 events through its five series of concerts — Masterworks; Shumiatcher Pops; Government House; Kids concerts; and RSO specials.
RSO music director Gordon Gerrard is proud of the organization’s legacy in the community and looks forward to adding to it with the new season.
“A symphony orchestra is, in its essence, a miraculous storyteller,” Gerrard said in a media release. “Through music, we give life and voice to the stories of our fellow humans: some from the distant past, and some with stories that aren’t yet finished. The RSO has been telling stories here for a long time — 110 years is no small achievement. Our country looks very different, our city is much more than it was, and we, the ones who call this home, are very different people. However, through all these changes, there has only ever been one RSO. This season we give thanks to the RSO’s past and commit to growth and progress in our future.” Here are the schedules for the individual concert series:
