Pat Canadians to open playoffs against Yorkton

The Regina Pat Canadians completed their Saskatchew­an Midget AAA Hockey League regular season Tuesday by defeating the Yorkton RawTec Maulers 4-1 at the Co-operators Centre.

Adam Herold, Matthew Culling, Jack Glen and Reece Henry scored for Regina, which got two-assist performanc­es from Jaydon Dureau and Parker Hendren. Beau Stevenson replied for Yorkton.

Dureau, who had 74 points (including 32 goals) in 38 games, placed second in the league’s scoring race. The Battleford­s Stars’ Adam Beckman, who played in 41 games, led the league in goals (44) and points (78).

Regina had a 35-6-2-1 record, which was good for second place. The Notre Dame Hounds (39-21-2) placed first.

Next up for the Pat Canadians is a best-of-five quarter-final against Yorkton. Game 1 is set for Saturday, 7:45 p.m., at the Cooperator­s Centre. Regina’s Madison Hart was a member of a three-person Canadian team that placed third in the senior women’s division at the world indoor archery championsh­ips, which concluded Monday in Yankton, S.D.

Canada beat Mexico 230-228 in the bronze-medal match. The senior division consisted largely of profession­al archers.

In the junior division, Regina’s J’lynn Mitchell helped Canada win a silver medal in the team event. The United States defeated Canada 230-225 in the gold-medal match. Canada had advanced to the final by defeating Italy 233-231.

Dylan Jones had a hat trick for the Extreme Hockey Regina Capitals on Tuesday in their 6-2 Prairie Junior Hockey League victory over the Regina Silver Foxes at the Al Ritchie Memorial Centre.

Austin Miller, Braydon Delorme and Brayden Cockwill also scored for the Capitals, who got three assists from Tristan Sulz. Matt Bohay and Chris Belanger answered for the Silver Foxes.

Also on Tuesday, Cohen MacPherson and Jaden Shewchuk each had a goal and an assist for Fort Knox in its 4-1 victory over the Traveland RV Storm at the Fort Qu’Appelle Rexentre.

Colby Entz made 24 saves for the shutout Tuesday as the Melville Millionair­es posted a 7-0 Saskatchew­an Junior Hockey League victory over the La Ronge Ice Wolves at the Horizon Credit Union Centre.

Logan Foster, Isaac Embree, Ethan Kopyczyn, Daniel Liberty, Trevor Paradise, Tyler Millar and Clayton Eisler were the goal scorers.

The Saskatchew­an Roughrider­s have re-signed

four internatio­nal players who spent time on their practice roster last season — offensive linemen Jarvis Harrison and Terran Vaughn, receiver T.J. Thorpe and defensive back Melvin White.

The Western Canada diving championsh­ips

are to be held May 4-6 at the Lawson Aquatic Centre.
