The Regina Pat Canadians are to visit the Yorkton RawTec Maulers on Monday for Game 2 of a best-of-five Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League quarter-final.
Faceoff is set for 7 p.m. at Farrell Agencies Arena.
Regina won Saturday’s opener 5-2 at the Cooperators Centre. The Pat Canadians’ offensive leaders were Matthew Culling (who had two goals and one assist), Taylor Halbgewachs (two goals) and Chase Nameth (three assists).
Jaydon Dureau (one goal, one assist) and Adam Herold (two assists) also had multipoint games for Regina, which got nine saves from Nathan Moore.
Austin Dycer and Jackson Berezowski scored for Yorkton, which got 25 saves from Jordan Schmuland.
The Regina Rebels are to play host to the Swift Current Diamond Energy Wildcats on Monday to open a best-of-five Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League quarterfinal.
The game is to begin at 8 p.m. at the Co-operators Centre.
Cory Schillo’s overtime goal gave the Melville Millionaires a 3-2 Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League victory over the host Weyburn Red Wings on Saturday.
Shane Sherban and Clayton Eisler scored for Melville in the second period. Jordan Kazymyra and Tyran Brown countered with third-period goals for Weyburn.
Winning goaltender Colby Entz made 34 saves.
The Saskatoon district won the medal standings at the Saskatchewan Winter Games, which concluded Saturday in North Battleford.
Saskatoon had 108 medals — 37 gold, 41 silver and 30 bronze. Regina was second with 89 medals (32, 25, 32).
Saskatoon was also first in flag points (184) followed by Regina (178).
The Saskatchewan Rush clinched a National Lacrosse League playoff berth Saturday by defeating the Calgary Roughnecks 10-6 before a sellout crowd of 15,075 at SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon.
Mark Matthews had three goals and four assists for the Rush (9-2), which got 37 saves and a first-star performance from Evan Kirk.
The Rush is to return to action Saturday against the visiting Vancouver Stealth.
