Broncos memorial game Thursday in Moose Jaw

A Humboldt Broncos memorial hockey game is to be played Thursday, 7:30 p.m., at Mosaic Place in Moose Jaw.

The game has been organized by the Saskatchew­an Midget AAA Hockey League’s Moose Jaw Generals, in partnershi­p with the WHL’s Moose Jaw Warriors, in honour of former Generals player Evan Thomas.

Thomas was among 16 people killed in the Broncos’ bus crash on April 6. Admission to the memorial game will be by donations, with all proceeds going to the Broncos and the Thomas family.

The game will feature former Generals, midget AAA, SJHL and WHL players.

The final five champions were

decided at the WCP Cup soccer tournament, which concluded Saturday at the Credit Union EventPlex.

In the under-17 boys final, Brady Gelowitz had two goals for Canada in its 5-4 victory over Jamaica.

Clint Houlie scored twice for Ireland in its 4-2 victory over Serbia in the masters championsh­ip match.

In the under-23 boys final, Sudan got goals from Shedrek Samuel and Kwame Addai in a 2-1 victory over Scotland.

Ukraine shut out Scotland 3-0 in the women’s final, led by two goals from Nikita Senko.

In the men’s final, Jamaica got two goals from Steve Delong in a 7-2 victory over Canada.

The Regina Stingers placed fourth

in the under-16 division at the Canadian ringette championsh­ips in Winnipeg.

Ontario’s Nepean Ravens edged the Stingers 4-3 in the bronze-medal game on Saturday.

Optimist Dolphins Swim Club won the 400-metre freestyle in the male 14-16 age group Saturday at the Western Canadian swimming championsh­ips in Victoria.

On Friday, the Dolphins’ Noah Wagner won a bronze medal in the male 14-16 400-m individual medley.

In a battle of Generals,

Stoney Creek defeated Lacombe 7-4 to win the Allan Cup in Rosetown.

Stoney Creek, from Ontario, represente­d the Central region at the Canadian senior A men’s hockey championsh­ip. Lacombe, from Alberta, represente­d the Pacific region.
