Ball hockey fundraiser set for May25

The Shooting Stars Foundation will host the STICKS Ball Hockey Classic on May 25 in conjunctio­n with the 2018 Memorial Cup.

The STICKS tournament, featuring 24 corporate teams ($1,500 entry fee per team), is to be played on three inflatable rinks inside the Internatio­nal Trade Centre at Evraz Place.

Funds raised will benefit KidSport as well as families impacted by the Humboldt Broncos’ bus crash.

NHL players and local alumni are slated to take part in the event and participat­e in a Green and Gold celebrity game honouring the Broncos.

Tickets are on sale for

the 2018 Saskatchew­an Hockey Hall of Fame induction dinner, which is set for July 7 at the Credit Union iPlex in Swift Current.

The 2018 inductees are players Ron Delorme, Bill Hicke and Hayley Wickenheis­er, builder Kelly Lovering, official Lyle Wilhelm, grassroots enshrinees Larry Johnson and Dennis Loeppky, and the 198788 Notre Dame Hounds (SJHL).

Emcees will be Kate Beirness and Natasha Staniszews­ki of TSN.

Tickets are available for $125 each or $1,000 for a table of eight. They can be purchased by calling 306773-1509.

Three athletes from Regina and

area won gold medals at the Saskatchew­an Karate Associatio­n’s provincial spring tournament on the weekend.

The aforementi­oned event winners were Ayumi Sinclair of Qu’Appelle (female 10-and-under novice kata), Marek Valecky of Regina (10-and-under intermedia­te kumite) and Konomu Sinclair of Qu’Appelle (male 11-13 intermedia­te kumite).
