STC closure means isolation for some

-

I have a disability that prevents me from driving. I rely on public transportation. That means Regina Transit and it used to mean STC. Since the loss of STC, I have been very limited to visit family and friends outside of Regina.

Joe Hargrave, former minister of STC, has stated that the private sector would be there to pick the void of the removal of STC.

The fact is, that is not true and I haven’t been able to leave outside Regina without someone to take me due to my limited income. So where has that left me?

I am in isolation because I am limited to staying in Regina. My freedom has been taken away from me by the Sask. Party cuts.

I would like Mr. Hargrave and the premier to come and live within my means to experience the difficulties I face every day.

I do not use a wheelchair, but I know others that do and they also can’t drive.

The cost of transportation outside Regina exceeds my income, which comes from the Saskatchewan Assured Income for Disability, and this has affected my quality of life.

Premier Scott Moe and other Sask. Party members kept saying this province is the best place for people with disabilities to live.

I am really questioning this with my freedom restrictions. Please rethink your motives for this closure.
