University of Regina 2018 Spring Convocation Platform Award Recipients
PRESIDENT’S MEDAL
The University of Regina’s President’s Medal is awarded to a student receiving a first degree who has demonstrated academic excellence and a significant commitment to extra-curricular activities. The 2018 spring recipient of this award is Jae Won Hur who is graduating with a Bachelor of Business Administration with great distinction. While majoring in management, he earned a grade point average of 91.81 per cent. Hur is also the recipient of the Faculty of Business Administration Dean’s Medal and the Leon Goldman Scholarship.
GOVERNOR GENERAL’S ACADEMIC GOLD MEDAL
The award recognizing outstanding academic achievement of a graduate student is presented to Thuntida Ngamkham.
Ngamkham has earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Statistics while maintaining a 95 per cent average. Her thesis, Modeling of Water Quality Dynamics Using Indigenous Knowledge, focuses on developing a model to use Indigenous peoples’ environment evaluation skills for describing water quality in Indigenous communities – a first.
GOVERNOR GENERAL’S ACADEMIC SILVER MEDAL
Belma Kamencic is receiving the Governor General’s Academic Silver Medal as the most distinguished graduate receiving a first degree. Kamencic has earned a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree. She maintained a 96.3 per cent average in her studies that focused on cellular and molecular biology. Kamencic is not only an outstanding academic, but also a compassionate person with strong leadership skills she employs both on and off campus.
UNIVERSITY MEDAL
The University Medal is presented at the spring convocation to the undergraduate student who has had the highest academic standing during the previous 12 months. This year’s recipient is Andie Quinn Chernoff who is pursuing a Bachelor of Science Honours (Psychology) degree through Luther College. Chernoff has a cumulative grade point average of 97.12 per cent. In the winter 2018 semester, she achieved a term grade point average of 99.4 per cent – marking the sixth time she qualified for the Dean’s Honour Roll.
