Man charged with mischief after powder found at hospital

-

A 29-year-old Regina man has been charged after an unknown, but ultimately harmless, white powder was found at the General Hospital on the weekend.

Police were dispatched to assist Regina Fire and Protective Services before 10 p.m. Sunday after a powder was discovered in an area of the hospital. The Hazmat team and police concluded the powder was not a danger.

Continued investigation led to identification of a suspect in the case. Although the powder proved to be harmless, the alleged actions of the suspect led to a significant emergency services response and an interruption to operations at the hospital, according to police.

The man was arrested and charged with mischief under $5,000. The accused was also the subject of warrants from June 2017 and November 2017.
