SALAD EMOJI IS NOW EGG-FREE

Google’s new vision of salad is sans egg. In an effort to be vegan-friendly, its green salad emoji now depicts exclusively plantbased ingredients, The A.V. Club reports.

Google User Experience manager Jennifer Daniel recently announced the redesign on Twitter: “There’s big talk about inclusion and diversity at Google so if you need any evidence of Google is making this priority may I direct your attention to the salad emoji — we’ve removed the egg in Android P beta 2, making this a more inclusive vegan salad.”

While many swiftly expressed support on social media, some meat-eaters, and egg producers, have taken issue with the change.

The British Egg Industry Council, for one, is on the defensive, telling The Register, “Are the people at Google cracking up?”
