The father of one’s youth may not be the father of one’s adolescence or adult life, as relationships change through the year. This Father’s Day, the moon is in Leo, the sign of children. AHEAD: Happy summer solstice! On June 21, the longest day of the year, people will be gathering around monuments such as Fajada Butte in New Mexico, Stonehenge in England and Carhenge in Nebraska (which is quite like Stonehenge, just not so old and made out of cars) to celebrate the sun’s entrance into Cancer. In many of these places, the sun will align with a special feature of the monument, shining through a keystone or other framing, making it seem as if, for a brief moment, we have captured the sun -- that it is there to be worshipped and adored by us -- before it continues its chariot ride through the seasons.

Though the solstice will be the most celebrated cosmic feature of the week, it will be precluded by another significant movement. Neptune will go retrograde Monday, beginning several months of introspection and retrospection on the subject of our dreams and fantasies -- where they came from, how they are helping us (or hurting us, as the case may be) and whether there’s anything to be done about making adjustments for a happier, more fulfilling future.
