Province continuing to favour the farmers

-

Wouldn’t it be great if we had a provincial government that treated all of Saskatchewan’s people equally?

By that I mean, the Saskatchewan Party continues to pay down the debt that they themselves caused by mismanaging our economy on the backs of everyone living in the cities.

When the Sask. Party took away the money paid to cities in lieu of taxes paid by SaskPower and SaskEnergy, they took millions from city budgets. This money had to come from somewhere, so taxes were raised, thus hurting low-income families and pensioners on fixed incomes.

Where were the MLAs for the Sask. Party who were elected to look after their constituents in the cities when their party took this money? They turned their back on them!

The farms in this province, most of which are multimilliondollar businesses, still don’t pay PST on fuel, seed, fertilizer and equipment to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars. Even the provincial auditor doesn’t know why this is.

Putting PST on used vehicles over $5,000 is a joke. When was the last time the finance minister bought a vehicle for $5,000? They’re called beaters, whereas the farmers don’t pay PST on their equipment no matter what the cost.

It’s just another way to squeeze more money from everyone who is not a farmer.

This one-sided taxation will continue as the Sask. Party made sure they have enough rural ridings to remain in government.

So I guess we who live in the cities will continue to pay down the debt caused by bad land deals, faulty smart meters, etc., until we get a government that is truly for all Saskatchewan.
