Three Regina residents entering Saskatchewan Golf Hall of Fame
Dean Brown, Otto Huber and Kirk McGregor — all of Regina — are the Saskatchewan Golf Hall of Fame’s inductees for 2018.
The induction ceremony and banquet is to be held Sept. 22 at the Royal Regina Golf Club.
Tickets will go on sale Aug. 1 and can be purchased by visiting golfsaskatchewan.org.
Lila Stewart and Presley Deck, both of the Regina Diving Club, won medals on the weekend at the Speedo junior development nationals in Toronto.
Stewart earned a silver medal in platform/tower. Deck received a bronze medal in the three-metre event.
Janz Stein of Regina won the men’s para ambulatory long-jump title Thursday at the Canadian track and field championships in Ottawa.
Stein won the gold medal in that event for the third consecutive year, posting a distance of 5.85 metres.
The Regina Red Sox are to play host to the Medicine Hat Mavericks on Wednesday, 7:05 p.m., at Currie Field in Western Major Baseball League action.
Regina was scheduled to play host to Medicine Hat on Tuesday.
On Monday, the Red Sox defeated the visiting Moose Jaw Miller Express 8-7. Riley Hickerson and Colton Onstott each had a home run and three RBIs as the Red Sox improved their record to 209. Jake Wilson drove in the other two Regina runs.
Saskatchewan South defeated Ontario 12-10 on Monday at the Under-16 Eastern Challenge football tournament in Guelph, Ont.
John Stoll of Melville scored on a 60-yard interception return for Saskatchewan, which got a field goal from Regina’s Andrew Sweeney.
Stoll (defence) and Lane Erdelyan of Regina (offence) were named Saskatchewan’s players of the game following its opener.
Connor Scissons of Saskatoon shot a 1-under-par 71 on Monday to assume the first-round lead at the Saskatchewan junior men’s golf championship in Saskatoon.
Regina’s Adam Husli was in second place, three strokes off the pace.
At the provincial junior women’s championship, also in Saskatoon, Brooklin Fry of Shell Lake had the first-round lead after shooting an 81.
Deer Valley ’s Carey McLean was one shot back. Regina’s Alexandra Schmidt was in third place, two strokes behind Fry, entering the second round Tuesday. The third and final round is scheduled for Wednesday.
