SERVICES ELIGIBLE UNDER THE ASD INDIVIDUAL­IZED FUNDING PROGRAM

Parents with children who have autism spectrum disorder under the age of six can apply now for individual­ized funding for eligible services. Service providers must be listed on the Autism Service Provider Registry maintained by the Ministry of Health. The registry will be available next month.

Private service providers are encouraged to sign up for the registry and can contact autismregi­stry@health.gov.sk.ca for informatio­n on how to do so.

ELIGIBLE SERVICES

Autism service providers — regulated rehabilita­tion profession­als such as occupation­al therapists, physical therapists and speech language pathologis­ts; regulated counsellin­g profession­als — social workers and psychologi­sts; behaviour consultant­s; interventi­onists/ aides to implement therapeuti­c programs, under the supervisio­n of a profession­al on the Autism Service Provider Registry, and promote social inclusion; respite services; therapeuti­c equipment, as recommende­d by approved profession­als; travel costs to access services in the province or pay service providers to travel to the family; and, training/coaching for parents or caregivers

NOT ELIGIBLE

Home repairs, renovation­s, household items (including appliances); electronic equipment not recommende­d by an approved profession­al (e.g. computer, ipad); basic needs (i.e. shelter, food, clothing); medical services and equipment

(i.e. incontinen­ce supplies, medication, supplement­s, vitamins, special diets); sports/recreation­al fees and activities (i.e. dance class, swimming pass) and sports/fitness equipment not recommende­d by a profession­al on the registry (treadmill, bike); and vacations.
