U19 men’s water polo team takes third place

Stephen Gloade, Brody Mcknight and Jake Morris, all of Regina, helped Canada’s U19 men’s water polo team win the bronze medal Sunday at the UANA Junior Pan American Championsh­ips in Clearwater, Fla. Canada defeated Argentina 14-9 in the third-place game.

As previously reported, Adrien Van Dyke and Blaire Mcdowell — both of Regina — helped Canada win the women’s gold medal at that event. Canada defeated Brazil 12-9 in the championsh­ip final. Mcdowell, who had four goals in that game, was named the most valuable player of the women’s tournament.

Troy Gordon and winning pitcher Greg Hill homered as the Bulyea Rustlers defeated the Moose Jaw Giants 10-1 in Western Cycle Rambler Park Fastball League action Monday. Also on Monday, the Earl Grey Rockets got a home run from Justin Sievert en route to defeating Best Buds 14-11. Ray Amyotte and Jonah Agecoutay homered for Best Buds.

The Lumsden U19s swept a Regina Ladies Softball Associatio­n doublehead­er Monday at the Douglas Park diamonds, defeating Piapot 17-0 and Iskotew 13-8. Also on Monday, it was: Fusion 18, Raiders 13; Elite Auto Body 4, Dakota Winyan 3; and Falcons 15, T4 Ladies 6.

The Regina Red Sox carried a 22-13 record into a four-game Western Major Baseball League road swing that was to begin Tuesday against the Edmonton Prospects.

On Monday the Red Sox got a home run from Matt Deneau en route to defeating the Melville Millionair­es 6-4.

Ten members of the Regina Optimist Dolphins are set to compete at the Canadian swimming trials, which run Wednesday to Sunday in Edmonton.
