Woman still holds out hope mother will be found safe

More than a month after her mother’ s disappeara­nce, Lee-ann Chi coin eh olds onto hope that Ruby Barnes will find her way home.

Barnes was last seen on June 18 at 9:30 a.m. at a credit union in Carlyle. The 64-year-old woman was reported missing at 9:40 p.m., according to Carlyle RCMP.

There have been no developmen­ts in the search since her disappeara­nce, although Chicoine said people have called in quite a few leads to police, which RCMP have followed up on.

“When they’re followed up or the surveillan­ce has been watched over, it ends up (she) wasn’t here, but we appreciate everybody keeping their eyes open and phoning in what they see because it really means a lot to our family,” she said. “You get your hopes up, and then when again.” it’s not, you really feel down

said “I know Chicoine. that they are going to search some of the waterways just as a precaution. Right now, they’re putting that together, but other than that, we’re just hoping and praying that somebody will see something or know something and can call it in,” she said.

Chicoine has found the community support overwhelmi­ng. Community members have phoned, brought to strangers show food support, have or sent just and her dropped complete messages by of encouragem­ent. Her whole family has also been very close throughout the past month. “I just keep faith that she’ll be OK and be found, but it gets hard. Sometimes it’s harder than others to keep feeling that way, but I need to be strong for my family and my dad, and so that’s what I do,” she said.

The family describes Barnes as Caucasian, five-foot-five and 150 pounds. She was last seen wearing a black top with an abstract white design on it, black pants and carrying a black purse. She has grey hair and wears glasses. She was also driving a 2013 white Ford Escape with the licence plate number 969 KPI.
