RCMP release more information on man wanted in kidnapping
Melville RCMP are releasing more investigative details in hopes of tracking down a man wanted in relation to a July 12 kidnapping.
The kidnapping took place at a rural property south of Melville, where a man entered a woman’s residence with a firearm and demanded to be driven to Regina.
The woman complied and reported the incident to the Regina Police Service immediately.
The RCMP believe the suspect was involved in a theft at a Yorkton business on Broadway Street at around 11 a.m. earlier that same day, according to a police news release. Security-camera footage determined he was wearing black pants, black shoes with white trim and a black Oakley shirt.
Immediately after the incident, the suspect got a ride to the Melville area.
Anyone who may have seen someone matching that description in Yorkton around 11 a.m. on July 12 is asked to contact Yorkton RCMP at 306-786-2400.
Police are also asking anyone who may have seen a man exit a late-’90s grey Infiniti G20 sedan near Regina’s Mctavish Street around 4th and 5th Avenue at approximately 3:15 p.m. on July 12 to report it immediately.
The man was carrying a firearm wrapped in a green blanket and was wearing a black Regina Riot hoodie. The suspect is described as Indigenous, about 5-foot-10, with a slim build, wearing black pants and a black Regina Riot hoodie with the word “defence” written in white on the front.
RCMP say there are very few of these sweaters in existence.
