Regina Red Sox home to Moose Jaw on Friday

The Regina Red Sox are preparing for the final weekend of the Western Major Baseball League’s regular season.

On Friday, the Red Sox are to play host to the Moose Jaw Miller Express (7:05 p.m., Currie Field) before visiting the Melville Millionair­es on Saturday night.

The regular-season finale is Sunday, 2:05 p.m., against the visiting Weyburn Beavers.

On Wednesday, Weyburn improved its Eastern Division-leading record to 34-10 by defeating the Red Sox 10-8 at Tom Laing Park.

Wade Weinburger had two hits, two runs scored and a stolen base for Weyburn. Adam De La Cruz homered for Regina, which also got three hits from Jahshua Jones.

Regina carried a 23-19 slate into Thursday’s game against the host Yorkton Cardinals.

Denna Gerrard had a grand-slam homer to help the Sleek defeat the Kaos 12-5 in Regina Ladies Softball Associatio­n playoff action Wednesday.

In another Division 1 playoff game, Bret Dundas got the win as the Wheat Country Extreme defeated the Lumsden Under-21s 7-2. Cherise Burns homered for the Extreme.

In a Division 3 game, the Falcons defeated Pasqua 15-8. Sarah Shobert was the winning pitcher.

Alfie Bear homered twice for the Alpha Constructi­on Hawks as they doubled the Piapot Wolfpack 8-4 in Western Cycle Rambler Park Fastball League action Wednesday.

J.J. Poitras was the winning pitcher.

Also on Wednesday, the Standing Buffalo Dakotas defeated the Regina Gold 6-1 behind winning pitcher Dwayne Redman Jr.
