Red Sox host playoff game Friday

The Regina Red Sox will play host to the Swift Current 57’s on Friday in Game 4 of a best-of-five Western Major Baseball League first-round playoff series.

The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m., at Currie Field, where the Red Sox and 57’s were to meet in Game 3 on Thursday night.

Swift Current evened the series at 1-1 on Wednesday by winning 7-5 at Mitchell Field thanks to a five-run second-inning outburst.

Spencer Koelewyn earned the victory in relief and Keil Krumwiede got the save. Dylan Bells was the losing pitcher.

Blake Adams and Jerad Dokey each had two hits, one RBI and a run scored for Swift Current. Erik Crossman had a two-run homer for Regina, which got two hits, a run scored and a walk from Phil Langlois. A fifth game, if needed, will be Saturday, 7:05 p.m., in Swift Current.

In another first-round matchup, the Weyburn Beavers defeated the visiting Moose Jaw Miller Express 14-4 Wednesday to assume a 2-0 series lead. Keaton Greenwalt had four hits, including a double and a home run, for Weyburn. Ty Schindel had a two-run homer for Moose Jaw, which was to host Game 3 Thursday. The Falcons are the Regina Ladies Softball Associatio­n’s Division 3 champions.

They secured the title Tuesday at the Douglas Park diamonds by defeating Pasqua 14-9. Randene Dubois was the winning pitcher.

On Wednesday, the Senior Saints defeated the Lumsden Under-19s 6-1 to win the Division 2A title. Landace Mcclughan got the win for the Saints, who were undefeated in the playoffs.

Also on Wednesday, Elite Auto Body defeated Iskotew 13-12 to capture the Division 2B championsh­ip. Kristie Chatterson was the winning pitcher. Kristen Mcnabb homered for Iskotew. Colin Mcleod allowed only two hits over six innings to earn the victory as the Bulyea Rustlers defeated the Regina Gold 7-0 in Western Cycle Rambler Park Fastball League action Wednesday.

Also on Wednesday, Alfie Bear and Terrell Walker homered for the Alpha Constructi­on Hawks in their 10-7 victory over the Earl Grey Rockets.

Justin Sievert homered for Earl Grey.

The Regina Rogues defeated the Regina Condors 79-15 in Regina Rugby Union senior men’s action Wednesday.
