Wascana project hardly a secret

-

My letter is in regards to all the protests we are hearing now that construction has actually begun on the new Conexus head office building on College Avenue, on the edge of Wascana Park.

Protesters are alleging shady backrooms deals and the stakeholders intentionally keeping the public in the dark. Nothing could be further from the truth.

As average citizens, we were aware of this project over two years ago, without doing any special research.

It was always in the news about the financing and the intent and the plans — over two years ago!

Yet NOW, when shovels hit the ground, those who love the park so much are horrified? That’s like saying I only love my kids when they go missing.

Come on protesters — at the very least — please be fair and reasonable in your accusations and admit that you had no idea what was going on because you weren’t all that interested.

Protesting seems to be a socially fun and engaging form of recreation these days so away they go when the cameras are rolling! It’s ridiculous.

As I said, these plans have been transparent and highly visible for a couple years. Those opposed had plenty of opportunity to put forth a logical and effective protest back then, but didn’t. Too little and too late from the protesters.

They have no credibility now, nor have they done any due diligence that would be required to stop a project such as this.
