Regina Little Theatre opens its 2018-19 season with The

Lost Boy. Support local theatre, and you may be inspired to put down your iphone and use your imaginatio­n. Shows are Thursday (Oct. 4), Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Regina Performing Arts Centre, 1077 Angus St. Tickets are $23 for adults.

If you loved Curtain Razors’ production of Bad Blood last year, then you should probably see Carmen Angel. Artistic director Joey Tremblay’s latest play is a murder-mystery/gothic fairy tale. It premieres Thursday (Oct. 4) and runs for eight nights at the John Paul II Centre (2200 25th Ave.). Tickets are $45 (with a discount available to those who need it) and seating is limited, so book now at curtainraz­ors.com.

It’s hard rock all night at the Exchange on Friday, Oct. 5, with Planet Eater, Blue Youth, Son Howler and Midnight Gallows. Admission is $15 at the door. Bands start at 8 p.m. Plus, on the club side, there’s a death metal show, featuring Scythra, Vathek, Cell and Anemone. Tickets are $10, and bands start at 7:30 p.m.

Sea Moya, a Kraut Beat outfit from Germany, are touring their debut full-length album Falmenta. Catch them alongside Psst Shh and DJ Elias Agogo at T+A Vinyl at 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5. Admission is $10.

Lee Reed and Kay the Aquanaut are part of the RHYMETHINK hip-hop collective, whose mission is (in part) “to soundtrack and support the frontline efforts of freedom fighters and social movements” and “popularize anti-colonial, anticapita­list, and anti-oppressive politics.” They’re performing at Malty National at 9 p.m. on Friday. Admission is $10.

Saskatoon piano pop duo Too Soon Monsoon are playing O’hanlon’s, 10 p.m. Friday. Admission is free.

Regina’s newest (as far as we know) country party band is playing the Exchange on Saturday, Oct. 6. Tumbleweed­s’ “Hometown Hoedown” CD release party promises to be a rocking good time (literally, since all four of the band’s members have their roots in rock and metal bands). Tyler Gilbert opens the show. Doors at 8 p.m. Advance tickets are $10 from theexchang­elive.ca.

Regina’s cheesiest cover band (at least by name), Dangerous Cheese is celebratin­g its 10-year anniversar­y at Revival Music Room on Saturday, Oct. 6. Show starts at 9 p.m. Admission is $10 at the door.

Frigs (Toronto post-punk) and Suuns (Montreal art-rock) are playing at T+A Vinyl on Sunday, Oct. 7. Show starts at 9 p.m. Admission is $20 at the door.

The Alley Dawgs play old-time country favourites every Tuesday at the Fat Badger. They go on at 9:30. The show is free and drinks are cheap.

Jimmy Rankin will belt out some bitterswee­t ballads and folkrock tunes at the Casino Regina Show Lounge, 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10. Tickets are $30.

Folk Road Show plays the Creative City Centre on Wednesday and lives up to its name. Think call and response vocals and a rhythmic party sound, then mournful harmonies and mandolins. (Fun fact, Dominique Fricot is a member. CBC Radio Two listeners will recall his 2014 song, I Miss The 80s.) Admission is $15 at the door; show starts at 8 p.m. with Skip Jr. Campbell opening.

Mamma Mia! is still on at the Globe Theatre. Nightly shows (except Monday) run through Oct. 21. KNOW SHOWS highlights some of the awesome arts-based events going on in Regina.
