3 injured when car collides with tree
Three people were taken to hospital after a car lost control and struck a tree early Tuesday morning.
Two women and a man had to be extracted from the car by EMS and members of Regina Fire and Protective Services at approximately 3:45 a.m.
The male driver sustained what are believed to be lifethreatening injuries.
The Regina Police Service says its early investigation indicates the car was travelling westbound on Victoria Avenue at a high rate of speed.
The vehicle was “out of control” approaching the Winnipeg Street intersection, “narrowly missing another vehicle, and then colliding with a tree.”
Officers blocked both eastbound and westbound traffic at the scene of the collision and began collecting witness statements and evidence as part of the investigation.
Debris from the car was scattered on the street and in several yards near the collision site.
The street was closed to traffic for more than three hours and re-opened again at about 7 a.m.
The investigation is ongoing.
“Given the early hour of this incident, it is possible the individuals already spoken to by police are the only persons who witnessed the actual collision, but others may have information about the events leading up to the collision,” police said in a news release.
Anyone with information to add to this investigation is asked to contact the Regina Police Service at 306777-6500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
