The University of Regina improv team is hosting the Centre of Plains Internatio­nal Improv Festival Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 15-17, in the Riddell Centre multipurpo­se room. All shows start at 7 p.m. Admission is by donation.

Terraplane plays atmospheri­c Delta blues-inspired music at The Cure (2323 11th Ave.) on Thursday, Nov. 15, 9 p.m. No cover; no minors allowed.

Andersonbu­rko started around a backyard campfire and launched its debut album in Saskatoon in 2009. The rootsy band will perform at the Artesian on Thursday, Nov. 15. Show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 and available at the door or at artesianon­13th.ca.

Canada’s Ballet Jorgen presents The Nutcracker: A Canadian Tradition at the Conexus Arts Centre on Friday, Nov. 16, at

7:30 p.m. This show is a little different than the usual Nutcracker since it’s set in Algonquin Park and features some distinct Canadiana representa­tions and woodland creatures. Tickets start at $42.50 for adults; get them at conexustic­ket.com.

Trash Hawks, Ugly Again and Dream Creeps play an Understand­us Benefit on Friday, Nov. 16, 8 p.m. at The Cure (2323 11th Ave.).

Nick Faye performs a solo set at London Belle (3915 Albert St.) on Friday, Nov. 16, 7-10 p.m.

Saskatoon indie rock band Friends Of Foes is playing O’hanlon’s on Friday, Nov. 16. Music starts sometime after 10 p.m. Admission is free.

Hitchhiker­s Improv hosts a night of improv comedy at their theatre (2415 11th Ave.) on Friday, Nov. 16, 8 p.m. Admission is $10.

Ottawa-based francophon­e soul/funk/pop/hip-hop singer Yao is at Le Bistro (3850 Hillsdale St.) on Friday, Nov. 16. Tickets are $20 at the door for adults, or $16 in advance online at eventbrite.ca.

Toque will play popular Canadian classic rock songs at the Turvey Centre on Friday, Nov. 16. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $30.

Wednesday 13 (hard rock/horror punk) is at The Exchange on Friday, Nov. 16. Doors open at 8 p.m. Advanced tickets are $20 at ticketfly.ca.

JJ Voss is playing country music at Revival Music Room on Friday, Nov. 16. Doors at 7 p.m.

Meet some local artists while doing some holiday shopping at Wintergree­n Fine Craft Market. The market runs Friday, Nov. 16, from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults and children under 12 get in free.

Regina author Alison Lohans launches her new novel Timefall at India Palace, 4030 Albert St., at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17. Her novel is a sci-fi/time-travel story with a teen mom and her baby as the central characters.

John Stetch plays jazz music at the German Club on Saturday, Nov. 17, 8 p.m. Tickets are $30 for adults, and are available at jazzregina.ca.

Soul Deep is a cover band from Regina, performing funk/r&b/ Motown hits at Revival Music Room on Saturday, Nov. 17. The band includes Khanida Taylor and Carlie Hinz on vocals. Music starts at 9 p.m.

All Mighty Voice, Dirty and the Perks, and Empire Associates perform at The Capitol on Saturday, Nov. 17.

Canadian country favourite Dean Brody has two concerts scheduled at the Casino Regina Show Lounge, 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 17 and 18. But, the Saturday night show is sold out, so Sunday is your best bet. Tickets are $70 and available at mytickets.casinoregi­na. com. Tenille Arts (who grew up in Weyburn) is opening the show.

Filipino rock band Sponge Cola will perform from 3 p.m. on because “longerrrr is better to give you the best music ever!” That’s Sunday, Nov. 18, at Carrefour des Plaines (3850 Hillsdale St.). Tickets are $45, which translates to $5 an hour if you stay for the whole thing.

Elizabeth Shepherd and Andrea Ramolo perform Leonard Cohen covers and more at The Artesian on Sunday, Nov. 18. Show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 and available at artesianon­13th.ca or at the door.

It’s a West Coast pop show at the Exchange on Tuesday, Nov. 20, as B.C. bands Hey Ocean! and Carmanah perform. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance at ticketfly.ca, Madame Yes and Vintage Vinyl, and $25 at the door.

The students of a University of Regina standup comedy course, Standup Comedy 101, are hosting a comedy show on Wednesday, Nov. 21, 8 p.m. at Revival Music Room.
