Make it a snowy Minot visit

-

Did you know that, in addition to all its other attractions, Minot also offers many types of winter recreation activities all season long? If you have the need for some winter recreation, Minot has it! Every winter the Souris Valley Golf Course and Oak Park are converted into one of the largest cross-country trails in the state of North Dakota. Its geographic design has a great mix of hills, straightaways and valleys to give skiers of all ages and levels of expertise a great experience. Nestled in the middle of the Souris Valley, the golf course is a great place to experience the outdoors, while located in the heart of Minot. Cross-country skis are available for rent by the Minot Park District. Those interested in renting skis can do so at Corbett Field in the warming house starting Dec. 15. Skis can be rented between the hours of 4 and 9:30 p.m. on Mon., Tues., Thu. and Fri. On Saturdays and Sundays, the skis can be rented between the hours of 2 and 9:30 p.m. The ski rental warming house is closed on Wednesday. The Minot Park District warming house is located at 13th Street S.E. and the East Burdick Expressway (behind Corbett Field). Rental skis are to be used on Minot Park District Property only and cost $7 skis. Trails are groomed at the Souris Valley Golf Course, Oak Park and the Bison Plant when snow conditions allow. Looking to try your skills on the ice? Minot has indoor and outdoor ice rinks for all your skating desires! Stop by the Maysa Arena to skate indoors during its public skating hours. Those interested in renting skates can do so at the Maysa for just $4. Be sure to check the Park District website at http:// minotparks.com for available indoor rink times. The Roosevelt, Corbett Field and Polaris park rinks all feature an outdoor ice skating rink. Patrons can bring their own skates and take to the ice for free! On Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday the outdoor rinks are open from 4 to 9:30 p.m. On Saturdays and Sundays, patrons may skate outdoors from 2 to 9:30 p.m. and the outdoor rinks are closed on Wednesday. The Roosevelt Park rink is located across from Roosevelt School on 215 2nd Street S.E. Corbett rink is behind Corbett Field at 13th Street S.E. and the East Burdick Expressway, and the Polaris Park rink is located at 712 26th Ave N.W. The three outdoor facilities are open from Dec. 15 to Feb. 15, weather permitting. If you are looking to ride a snowmobile during the winter months, then the city of Minot has your fix! Travelers to the ‘Magic City’ are encouraged to check out the many sno-trails in and around Minot. These sno-trails have a total of 351 miles moving through the many counties in our region. From early December through the end of March, trails are open contingent on rideable snowfall. For information on the latest trail conditions check out the North Dakota interactive trail map online to see when trails were recently groomed.
