Brooke Henderson has received an honorary life membership from the Wascana Country Club.

She has been honoured for winning the CP Women’s Open when it was held at the Wascana in August.

Greg Dukart, the Wascana’s CEO, said in a media release that the life membership “recognizes what we believe to be one of the greatest accomplish­ments in not only Canadian golf history but one of the greatest accomplish­ments in all of Canadian sport history.”

Henderson became the first Canadian to win the event since Jocelyne Bourassa in 1973.

Kyanna Giles scored a careerhigh 31 points on Friday, leading the University of Regina Cougars to a 91-75 win over the Manitoba Bisons in Canada West women’s basketball action at the Centre for Kinesiolog­y, Health and Sport.

Christina Mccusker added 15 points and a career-best 12 rebounds, and four blocked shots.

Regina (5-2) and Manitoba (52) will meet again on Saturday (4 p.m., CKHS).

In men’s basketball on Friday, the U of R lost 76-72 to Manitoba.

Myles Hamilton had a team-high 14 points along with 11 rebounds for the Cougars, who led 58-55 after the third quarter but were outscored 21-14 in the fourth. Samuel Hillis added 12 points and 12 boards.

The Cougars (4-3) and Bisons (3-4) are slated to meet again on Saturday (6 p.m., CKHS).

The UBC Thunderbir­ds defeated the Cougars 25-19, 25-14, 21-25, 25-27, 15-10 in Canada West women’s volleyball action Thursday at the CKHS. Jessica Lerminiaux had 12 kills for the Cougars, who got 36 assists from Satomi Togawa.

The teams were to play again Friday night.

Brennan Watson scored the shootout winner as Fort Knox edged the Regina Silver Foxes 3-2 on Thursday in Prairie Junior Hockey League action. Watson also scored with 15 seconds left in the third period to force overtime.

Michael Boudnikov and Noah Kozack scored for the Silver Foxes. Jaiden Gervais scored for Fort Knox at 5:21 of the third period.

Logan Ferland of the PFC’S Regina Thunder was named a CJFL all-canadian offensive lineman Thursday.
