Roughriders have Cfl-low 26 prospective free agents
The Saskatchewan Roughriders have a Cfl-low 26 pending free agents, according to an official compilation released Friday by the league.
The list of Roughriders players who are eligible to file for free agency Feb. 12 includes both quarterbacks who started for the team last season — Zach Collaros and Brandon Bridge — along with defensive end Willie Jefferson and linebacker Sam Eguavoen.
Jefferson was named the Roughriders’ most outstanding player last season. Eguavoen registered a team-high 81 defensive tackles.
Also on the Riders’ list are defensive linemen Zack Evans, Tobi Antigha, Eddie Steele, Mich’ael Brooks, Cory Johnson and Makana Henry, receivers Naaman Roosevelt, Rob Bagg, Patrick Lavoie, Devon Bailey, Caleb Holley, Kenny Shaw and Brian Jones, defensive backs Loucheiz Purifoy, Jovon Johnson, Marc-olivier Brouillette, Kevin Francis and Mike Edem, linebacker Sam Hurl, offensive lineman Josiah St. John, running back Cameron Marshall and quarterback Drew Tate.
The teams’ totals of prospective free agents break down as follows: Saskatchewan, 26; Montreal Alouettes, 28; Ottawa Redblacks, 32; Winnipeg Blue Bombers, 33; Hamilton Tiger-cats, 35; Toronto Argonauts, 37; B.C. Lions, 40; Edmonton Eskimos, 40; and, Calgary Stampeders, 41.
Those totals exclude players who either have retired or already have re-signed with their teams.
Some of the marquee names are those of quarterbacks Mike Reilly (Edmonton), Bo Levi Mitchell (Calgary), Trevor Harris (Ottawa), Ricky Ray (Toronto), Jonathon Jennings (B.C.), Travis Lulay (B.C.) and Kevin Glenn (Edmonton).
