Regina Leader-Post

Goodale’s efforts help enhance city

-

The Regina Leader-post reported in the Aug. 14 issue that “Premier Scott Moe has committed to funding three cultural and recreation projects in Saskatoon and Regina that the province had earlier threatened to hold back in the midst of a dispute with Ottawa.”

The paper added that at the same time, the premier “refused to submit proposals for rebuilding two Regina pools for funding under a bilateral agreement.”

The premier felt the federal funding for those projects is politically motivated and said the $896-million infrastructure deal offered by the federal government is “not Ralph Goodale’s re-election fund.”

Mr. Ralph Goodale is a Liberal member of Parliament who has managed to direct millions of dollars to the City of Regina over the past few years in an effort to enhance the quality of our city. Let us not forget the millions of dollars he arranged for upgrading Wascana Lake, which every citizen of Regina feels extremely proud of.

It does not matter the reasons that lie behind Mr. Goodale’s contributions; what matters is how the city is becoming a welcoming city as a result of such contributions.

The unfortunate experience here is how Premier Moe is turning the facts around by playing his politically motivated games.

As a final note, I can sure see and feel the outstanding effects of Mr. Goodale’s funding to our city, and while I am at it, I cannot help but ask the one question that keeps haunting me — what did our premier, Scott Moe, ever do to enhance the quality of our city? Mitri I. Musleh, Regina
