Music lineup unveiled for Heritage Classic

Jess Moskaluke, The Sheepdogs and The Hunter Brothers will provide musical entertainm­ent Oct. 26, when the NHL’S Heritage Classic is to be held at Mosaic Stadium.

The Classic will feature an NHL regular-season game between the Winnipeg Jets and Calgary Flames. Faceoff is set for 8 p.m.

Moskaluke and The Hunter Brothers are to perform during the opening ceremony, which will include a special appearance by RCMP cadets and officers from Regina’s Training Academy and Saskatchew­an’s “F” Division.

The Hunter Brothers will also perform during the anthem ceremony.

The Canadian flag will be unfurled by 50 members of the Canadian Forces.

The ceremonial puck drop will celebrate Indigenous hockey in Canada. Fred Sasakamoos­e (one of the NHL’S first Indigenous players), Brigette Lacquette (the first Indigenous player on Canada’s Olympic women’s hockey team) and local youth hockey players will participat­e.

The Sheepdogs will perform during the first intermissi­on. Moskaluke will be featured between the second and third periods.

Toque will serve as the house band and perform classic Canadian hits during stoppages in play throughout the game.

The Balgonie Greenall Griffins improved their record to 5-0 and clinched first place in the Stewart Conference by defeating the Martin Monarchs 41-0 in Regina Intercolle­giate Football League action at Mosaic Stadium on Wednesday.

Jonah Glas had rushing touchdowns of 56 and 57 yards.

Max Kennedy threw for 201 yards and three TDS, including a 69-yarder to Gage Olson.

In Wednesday’s other Stewart Conference game, the Balfour Bears improved to 4-1 by defeating the Johnson Wildcats 41-9.
