The Regina country-esque singer-songwriter is celebrating his first solo album release at the Artesian on Thursday, Nov. 21, 7:30 p.m. Backing Burns for his Dogs and Booze release show are Jeff Romanyk, Ian Cameron, Chris Sleightholm and Andy Beisel. Neutral Ground Presents: Structurally Sound, a group exhibition with Saskatoon artists Cameron Mckay, Laura Payne and Derek Sandbeck, curated by David Stonhouse. Each artist has a sculptural approach to painting that is a mix of geometric abstraction and constructivism with references to architecture and the digital age. Each exhibition exists uniquely, as the artists respond to the site and collaborate differently with one another. The opening reception is Saturday, Nov. 23, 8-11 p.m. An artists’ talk is Sunday, Nov. 24, 1-2 p.m. The exhibition runs through Jan. 11, and regular gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m.-6 p.m.

Seatbelt is a cautionary tale written from the true-life journey of a young woman who sustains a spinal cord injury from a car crash. Entering the world of “other,” it emphasizes what anxieties the transformation creates for her and her family. The play exemplifies the shift in how the medical system treats and perceives someone who identifies with disability. Written, directed and performed by Natasha Urkow, Seatbelt runs Nov. 26-28, 7:30 p.m., at the University of Regina Shu-box Theatre. Tickets are pay-what-you-can.

10,000 Drowned is an art exhibition focusing on the caribou of Northern Quebec, specifically those that drowned in 1984 at Limestone Falls. Margaret Orr’s paintings, ceramic sculptures and video installation capture the beauty of the caribou, land, water and sky. A master of fine arts graduating exhibition, 10,000 Drowned is on Nov. 25-Dec. 6 at the U of R Riddell Centre Fifth Parallel Gallery. Opening reception is Nov. 27, 4-7 p.m.
The Globe Theatre kicks off its holiday production on Wednesday. This retelling of Cinderella was written by Courtenay Dobbie, whose previous experience in fairy-tales at the Globe includes directing The Hobbit and Sleeping Beauty.
