Anxious family baffled by disappearance of missing young mother

The family of a missing Regina woman is praying for her safe return.

Family spokesperson Sara Ryan said her cousin Jasmine Clarkson, 27, would never leave her son, who just turned six this fall — especially this close to Christmas.

“We want everyone to know that this is not something that she would do,” Ryan said Monday in an interview. “She’s a kind of loving person and she deserves to be home.”

Clarkson was last seen at about 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 15, on the 1400 block of 14th Avenue. Two days later, she was the subject of a missing-persons news bulletin issued by Regina police that said officers had no reason to believe she had come to harm, but wanted to locate her to ensure her safety.

“We just love her so much and we just want her home safe,” Ryan said.

Her family is concerned she may be with 32-year-old Tyson Justice Poorman.

According to a post on the Regina

police website, he is wanted on allegations of assault and a breach of probation.

Clarkson and Poorman were reportedly in a brief relationship earlier this year, but it ended.

The family has received tips that the two have been spotted together — in Regina on their way to Piapot First Nation, where Poorman is a member, and possibly on other Saskatchewan reserves.

Ryan says Clarkson’s mother Melanie is devastated by the disappearance.

“She just keeps hoping and praying that Jasmine will call or someone will call that they’ve found Jasmine, and she gets to be home for Christmas with her son.”

Ryan said there have been occasions when Clarkson is going through a tough time that she wouldn’t contact anyone for a few days, but she’s never gone this long without talking to her mother or grandmother.

Clarkson is five-foot-five, about 106 pounds with a thin build and brown eyes.
