SASKATCHEWAN CASES
Here’s a look at the cases of COVID-19 that have been detected in the province, with the dates on which they were first announced.
MARCH 12
■ A person in their 60s who returned from Egypt is identified as the province’s first presumptive case.
The person was tested in Saskatoon on March 9, and the Roy Romanow Provincial Laboratory reported the presumptive positive result on March 12. The person was well enough to self-isolate at home. The province reported 285 people had been tested.
MARCH 13
■ A person in their 60s who returned from travelling to Oregon is tested in Saskatoon on March 10. The person was well enough to self-isolate. There had been 349 people tested.
MARCH 14
■ A health-care worker in their 30s with recent travel to Nigeria, Germany and Alberta tests positive. The person was reported as recovering in northern Saskatchewan.
■ A Regina resident in their 40s tests positive. The person recently travelled to a dental conference in Vancouver, where someone who attended tested positive for COVID-19. The person was tested March 13 and was reported to be self-isolating.
■ Another Regina resident in their 40s who lives in the same household as the previous case tests positive on March 13. This person was also said to be self-isolating.
■ A person in their 20s who travelled to Tennessee tests positive in Regina. This person is self-isolating in their home community.
MARCH 15
The first case of the COVID-19 strain of coronavirus is confirmed. Positive tests in Saskatchewan are deemed to be presumptive or probable until they are confirmed by the National Microbiology Laboratory in Winnipeg. There had been 499 people tested.
MARCH 16
■ A person in their 60s who recently travelled to Arizona tests positive in Regina. The person was reported to be in hospital in Regina due to an unrelated condition. The province’s second case is confirmed as positive. The province reports that 796 people had been tested.
MARCH 17
■ A person in their 50s who travelled from Vancouver tests positive in Regina and was reported to be self-isolating. There had been 1,107 tests performed.
